Veterinary Telehealth at Pet’s Choice

Convenient, Compassionate Care—Right from Home
At Pet’s Choice Animal Hospital, we understand life can be busy—and sometimes, getting to the clinic isn’t easy. That’s why we offer telehealth services to help you care for your pet more conveniently, without compromising safety or quality.

Whether it’s a follow-up visit, behavior consultation, or just a quick question, our telehealth services can keep you connected to your veterinary team from wherever you are.

What is Telehealth?

Veterinary telehealth uses technology like phone calls, video conferencing, and secure messaging to provide guidance, support, and medical care when an in-person visit isn’t necessary.

With telehealth, you can:

  • Check in after a procedure
  • Ask about minor symptoms
  • Discuss behavioral concerns
  • Get advice on nutrition and chronic conditions
  • Know when your pet does—or doesn’t—need to be seen in person

What the Law Says in Texas

In Texas, we’re proud to offer telehealth in ways that are both helpful and legally sound. The Texas Board of Veterinary Medical Examiners requires that a Veterinarian-Client-Patient Relationship (VCPR) be in place for your pet to receive medical care via telehealth.

A valid VCPR means:

  • We’ve seen your pet in person within the last 12 months
  • Your veterinarian knows your pet well enough to make informed decisions
  • You’ve agreed to follow their medical advice
  • We’re available for follow-up care

Without an active VCPR, we can still give general advice—but we cannot legally diagnose, prescribe medications, or treat specific conditions via telehealth.

What Can Be Done Through Telehealth?

With a valid VCPR, we can:

  • Provide post-op or chronic condition check-ins
  • Monitor many skin, or allergy issues
  • Offer behavior consultations
  • Review nutrition or weight management plans
  • Help determine if an in-person visit is needed

What Telehealth Cannot Replace

  • New pet exams or annual wellness visits
  • Physical exams for new symptoms
  • Emergency care
  • Vaccinations or lab tests
  • Diagnoses or prescriptions without a current VCPR
